MiCorps Volunteer Monitoring Training Workshops

Training for lake monitoring is provided each year at the Michigan Lake and Stream Associations Annual Conference. This year's training will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, 2008, in Grayling, Michigan. Please visit the MLSA's website for more information: www.mlswa.org.

MiCorps Stream Monitoring Training Workshops

Each year in June, MiCorps holds a training workshop for volunteer stream monitoring grant recipients. If you are not a MiCorps grantee, but are interested in the training, space may be available. Contact Paul Steen, psteen@hrwc.org, 734-769-5123, for more information.

When: Saturday, June 21, 2008, 8:45 am – 5 pm

Where: DeVries Nature Conservancy, Owosso, Michigan

What to Bring: Dress casually and prepare to get in the water. Bring waders, and any invertebrate sampling equipment you may have that you plan to use in your program. Gear will be provided for those who need it – if you need waders, please let Jo know your shoe size.

If your group has any protocols, forms, or materials outside of those provided by MiCorps that you are planning to use in your volunteer monitoring, please bring them along for discussion.

We will be on our own for lunch. Please plan to pack a lunch.

Additionally, if there are any specific topics or questions you would like to see addressed at this training, let us know. If you are not a 2008 MiCorps grantee, but are interested in the training, space may be available. Contact Jo for more information.
