The Michigan Lake and Stream Associations, Inc. (MLSA) received
funding to collect biological, habitat, and water quality data for
streams entering and leaving lakes monitored in the existing Cooperative
Lakes Monitoring Program, another MiCorps volunteer program. MLSA
established a new program to monitor inlet and outlet streams from
selected associated lakes and established macroinvertebrate and
habitat monitoring along with stream discharge and nutrient sampling.
They proposed to begin the program around 14 lakes in four watersheds
- a total of 56 monitoring sites.
