The Sierra
Club Mackinac Chapter received funding to expand monitoring efforts
under its Michigan Sulfide Ore Mining Project into Menominee County.
The purpose of the project was to document current and future water
quality conditions at a minimum of ten sites along the Menominee
River and tributaries (in the western Upper Peninsula) in an area
of current and planned sulfide mining.
